I just got a look at a bunch of figures today. There are some nice ones in there!

Reasons are moot. In vanilla D&D, players don't do that much sword and board.

Really? I'm surprised. I've seen plenty of sword-and-board fighters. It's only at high levels that they seem to go out of fashion, where the two-handed Power Attack approach takes over, and much of that shift is motivated by the availability of the Animated shield.

Of course, I use 28-point buy, which might account for some of the shift.
