They do need female characters from time to time though, I don't think the sets too overboard on them. If this set were the only release, then maybe, but there are so many figures out there already, I can't see that having females in this set is bad.Felon said:Y'know, I was pretty excited about this set...until the gallery went up. Then I realized how few I actually have any likelyhood of using and am experiencing disappointment.
First off, why so many females? Doomguard, Shadowdancer, Elf Warmage, Storm Silverhand, and Dragonmark Heir of Deneith could have all been possible stand-ins for PC's. I don't think my group is particularly odd in regards to being all-male.
As a planar themed set, there is a vast majority of planar types, including many of the female figures you mentioned. For myself, I'd say this is a better "monster" set, vs Wardrums being more of a "humanoid" set, or something like that.Heck, with the Lillend, Succubus, Lich Queen, Marilith, and Gnoll Priestess, I think there's a good case for arguing that there's a stronger feminine them than there is a fiendish one.
I really have no idea why DDM is so enamored of kobolds. How many variations of dog-lizard-men can we have? The Crossbow Toting Dwarf seems fine, as does half-orc spy, but I will chalk Flying Blue Swashbuckler up as probably too odd to be useful. Perhaps it's strictly a Skirmish figure. Then there's all the oddball stuff: the kobold monk, the gun-toting dwarf, half-orc spy, the flying blue swashbuckler. And once again, they went overboard with shield-bearing characters.

Shield Bearers might be over-used, but I think that's more a function of the rules rewarding everyone except shield bearers.
Reasons you stated, sure. Opinions vary. I think the Lillend and Marilith are fine in this set obviously, and just because your games are 100% male does not mean most are, though I'm sure the percentage of females is not 50/50.Felon said:Having an overabundance of females in any particular set is bad, for reasons already stated. A better approach is to include a couple in every set.
As I said, sword & shield PC's are rare, but a lot of the figures in this set aren't specific to PC's. Could we use more two-handers? Sure, but the reasons are no more moot than any other opinion piece. As for practical use, I doubt it matters in Skirmish much, and PC's are usually pretty specific.Reasons are moot. In vanilla D&D, players don't do that much sword and board, or much human-killing, so sword-and-board humans just aren't of as much practical use.
