Bluffside

Week of the cities. I got both Bluffside and Freeport. I've read bits and pieces on both, and it shames me to say they are both too good. How can a person decide what city to run if the cities are all this interesting? :D

Obviously having too much quality is better then too little, no matter how my bank accounts look. Bluffside was the one I was unsure of. Freeport has been raved because of the modules which I still don't own. Bluffside I'd heard a few things about, but it was in the store that it sold me. It's packed with info. This is what I want, so much information it oozes out of my brain. Now, all we need is someone to do this level of detail with the city of Sanctuary (Thieves World) and I will be in gamers heaven.

THunderhead Games, this is the first product of your I've bought and I will now be checking out any of the other things you have.

Would love to hear more about what you liked in the book, when you have a chance.

Of course, I'm always happy to give feedback. I haven't had a chance to read much of it yet. I've read the first five chapters and this is some great history. It also doesn't hurt that in my own world I have a Northern continent that has recently been rediscovered. Bluffside fits in very well with my own world, and that's always very important.

I really like the history and ther rredescovering of the Barrokks. Just teading the history of the city gave me a thousand ideas of campaigns. The cliff diving club is just a really neat idea. I can just imagine having fun running a bunch of cliff diving characters and the adventurers they can have.

I like the mystery of the ruins and the Black Tower. I'm a big fan of throwing in things like this that relate to ancient civilaitions. It has been an underlieing theme in my games. the PCs discover something truely ancient, but so far they really have felt they've had the time to investigate.

Are you going to be offering larger maps of the indivdual sections in future products or on line? As I rad more I'll post more of what I like. I'm at work right now, so can't just open it up and read through it like I'd like too.

ThunderHead Games has a Vault area (use password in the Bluffside book) that has the distict maps blown up to 2 times size (least look that way to me) in the book or on the map.

Recomend downloading them and slapping in Word to mark on.

THanks, I was not aware of that. That is a really cool idea.

Yes what he said:D
Go to our main page and click on vault, then use the info on the cover page and you will find all the hidden goodies we have and will have for our customers.....enjoy!!!!

Having read through most of the book, I'm still really happy with it. I like the one or two adventure hooks for each place. I was hoping a few more would tie together to weave some more complex plots, but the ones the have are nice and plenbty to get one's mind going. The book isn't a bad read. The descriptions are precious and not over done. THere are a huge number of NPCs, though. It keep the city feeling like a city, but it'll be hard to know them all.

That was something that we struggled with. It is easy to make up a town with a few NPCs, but a city, really, is a collection of people. And, if anyone hasn't noticed, making NPCs is HARD in 3e. So we felt that giving the GM many NPCs would just make his job a little easier.

Well speaking of NPCs...where did a certain multi-class character human with a sword by the name of Nightlight get to...:p  :) *is teasing*

Okay, so I'm guesing with all these little messages that you or at least your name is an NPC and you don't know if it's in the book or something? I'm so very curious exactly what all this is meaning.

When I scanned the NPC list I didn't see your name, but when I did the actually reading there was a guy with the nickname Night something. I can't find it no (of course) but that might be wat this is all about. :D

Now, back to the topic: NPCs are tough in d20. I praise you for having and defining so many. I'd perfer to have too many then too few. I just wish you'd gone into a more detail with them. But if you did that with all of them you'd be adding another 20 pages at least.
