BOED vs Compete Scoundrel?

OK, which of these two books do you think is the most useful? Personally, I like combining the two, where you can. The skill tricks from CS work very nicely, and some of the spells in it would very much help a BOED char going up again a Mind Flayer or something. And the Luck feats work so well to indicate being favored by your deity. Thoughts?

Looking at my gamer group, Vow of Poverty and that prestige class where you turn into a bear have been used from BoED, and the luck feats, skill tricks and two prestige classes (Grey Guard and Fortune's Friend) are being used (or at least seen as goals, for the PrClasses).

If you put a gun to my head, I would rather have Scoundrel than BoED. Vow of Poverty can too easily lead to Vow of Peace (not enough exalted feats, so the vows start getting taken) and that interferes with my bloodlust. :)

Most folks can use something out of CS, whereas only an exceedingly scarce few can use BOED (and most of those don't really play exalted PCs,; they just want the feats and maybe a good alignment).

I'll take the other side. I found Complete Scoundrel to be much more interesting and useful than BOED.

Likewise.

BoED is very limited in scope. Be super-good, or it's not for you. CS is useful across the board.

I must admit, I like the Grey Guard PrC, and the luck feats. But I also like Vassal of Bahamut, if only because, at three different levels, he gets an amount of Platinum Pieces equal to his character level x 100!

For my group, Complete Scoundrel would be far more useful than BoED. But we don't use either right now. :)

In my blog, I wrote a 2-part quasi-review of Complete Scoundrel, focusing upon what I found useful in it:
Part 1
Part 2

BoED is fairly specific in terms of the character-types that will benefit from it. My initial reaction is that if the PCs fit that character-type, then BoED is for you.

As someone, probably someone on this board, once put it, "BOED is for people who want to make paladins look like shifty crack dealers."

If you're into playing that sort of character, BOED is golden.

I'll stick to my luck feats and Avenging Executioner. =)
