Bonus spells from magic Wis

Also note that while an Owl is considered to be quite wise, a periapt, however, is most certainly not wise at all.

That's just what the periapt wants you to think. Very subtle, these periapts.

I always found it very strange that the three mental buffing spells in T&B had written prohibitions againt bonus spells, but the PsiHB had written guidelines for bonus power points for all ability scores, including mental, that fluctuate. Making it even more strange is the fact that Bruce Cordell authored the PsiHB which was released first and co-authored T&B which was released 6 months later.

For logic and consistency's sake (ie, it's damn easier to remember one rule rather than two), I house-ruled the PsiHB's guidelines applied to the mental buffing spells.

Fox's cunning is an enhancement, and dosn't allow extra spells.
A headband of intellect is also an enhancement.

I would swear I remember reading that items do not increase spells per day, but perhaps I am just making the assumption since the are the same bonus. Since they are BOTH enhancements, and they don't stack with each other, it would seem to be in keeping with the rules.

Of course, since I am currently playing a wizard, I would love for someone to prove me wrong.:D

The enhancement bonus in itself has nothing to do with why the spells do not allow for extra spells. These spells enhance Int, Wis, or Cha for their duration, but do not allow any extra spells to be prepared. The headband of intellect gives an enhancement bonus to Int that does affect spells per day while you wear it.
