Book looked good. Bought it. ... Haven't used it since.

Looking at the hardbound gaming resource books on my shelf, I can't help but regret some of their purchases. Delightful products and fun reading resources, but have they been of any use in a game? Not yet.

At the top of that list, I'd include Testament and the (v3.5) Psionics handbook.

Just thought I'd open the topic for anyone with the same minor regrets.

Penumbra Fantasy Bestiary- it's a very nice book, but I've never even brought it to the game table, much less used it.

Demiurge out.

Well, some books like Testiment are not going to be that useful in the typical D&D game. It would be like buying Mutants and MAsterminds and not using in the same type of game. Other like the Psionic Handbook are disapointments since they are desinged to fit in almsot any game.

Monster books are the easiest to use, just open it up and insert the monster in the next adventure. They are practically plug and play.

I have a lot of books I haven't used yet, but I don't look on them out of regret. They are the filled with future possibilities. Don't give up on a book so easily guys, there are modules from the twenty years ago I'm just now getting to use.

Arcana Unearthed, Diamond Throne, and the monster supplement- Haven't used any of them- don't regret the purchase, though, since I'll probably be using them down the line.

Any of the FFE products I purchased- those I do regret.

Hmm... haven't used any of my Necromancer modules, but I also plan to.

Savage Species. I was buying every WotC hardcover, and the "monster class" idea I thought was neat. It's never come up in my game, no PC has wanted to use it, and other than a purely academic exercise I don't open it.

Same here. I'm very careful with my D&D purchases, so there's rarely anything which I get which I don't get any use out of. Even Savage Species has had some use with regard to monster classes and PrCs/items, but it's the least of any book I've bought.

The only books I have regretted buying are the "...of Power" books. However, I may one day find the item histories useful. Until then regret rules the day.

WotC's 3e Deities and Demigods... worst purchase ever, like throwing money into the gutter or playing vegas slots...

I was new to DnD and buying every WotC book they released. I've never used it once, and I've not opened the book since two days after I purchased it. Good art, crud concept to stat out the deities and fill a book with divine stat blocks. I truly regret buying this.
