Boomerang Weapon with Multiclass Feats

King Nate

First Post
I had originally created the boomerang in this thread. I still like the weapon and now that there are these feats to specialize in weapons I thought I would try to use feats to get a better boomerang. PEACH

reskinned and zap! There flies a chakram. Real boomarang weapons didn't return anymore than Xena's gadget... but hey fantasy it is all clean fun.

You do know that all enchanted items return to their owner's hands when thrown, right?
It would be easier to make an enchanted shuriken and reskin it as a boomerang than to take a bunch of feats.

I'd say just make the boomerang a good thrown weapon, and if people want it to return to their hands they could just enchant it.

Well Xena would resent it but it rather works mechanically ... heeheh.

Thanks for the help, I now see the error of my ways. I will just go kill myself now, unless someone wants to offer some real help with this?

All the different homebrewed boomerang post I've made and the one thing everyone is stuck on is that thrown magic items return to the owner. No [explicit], I must have missed that in the rulebooks and the 500 times someone has mentioned that to me. Did you also know that a magical boomerang will also return as well? It's true! I've seen it in real life! [/rant]

What I would like help with is if the feats give you the feel of a returning boomerang weapon.

I know true returning boomerangs are not used as weapons and this is fantasy. I would guess that 9 out of 10 players that pick a boomerang as a weapon are going to expect the boomerang to return to them when they throw it whether it's magical or not. So how about some help with the mechanics that will make this possible?

Thanks.

too much drama? don't think that is likely to inspire help.

Hmmm possible names of the powers you describe...

Rebound or Ricochet
Out of sight or maybe Round and About
and Thud or maybe Head knocker...

Well when you ask for help directly and you don't get it, you've got to try some other ways.

Thanks for the name ideas. Round and About, I like that one.

hmmmm I question that but I do get frustrated when my posts get zero response...responses that arent helping sometimes means you didn't ask the question well... for instance.

Are there elements you aren't satisfied with specifically or particularly worried about in your design .... did you want other ideas, the sword mage has a level 1 daily ability that comes to mind.

Standard Action Ranged 5 (sort of .... could extend as far as 20 if there is somebody to miss against)
Requirement: Throw your melee weapon .
Target: A sequence of creatures (maybe) ;-)
Attack: Intelligence vs. AC
Hit: 2[W] + Int mod dam, and your weapon returns to your hand.
On a Miss: Repeat the attack against as many as 4 adversaries no more than 5 squares a part from each other or until you hit. Your weapon then returns to your hand.

You need your ducks in a row to get it to work... but I think it would make more logical sense if it only rebound if it succeeded on an attack... reduce the damge so that it is obviously... a glancing blow...but that would be cool.
