Boots of speed cost errata?

>>>>>>Don't you get an extra partial action the round you activate them?

>>>Yes. But that's a net wash-you spent a standard action to turn them on.

It cannot work this way, or else you lose actions.

So, if the boots indeed do work this way, you lose at least one round then and essentially only get 9 rounds of use, IF you use all 10 consecutively.

Round 1: You take a standard action to activate the boots. You gain a partial action. These cancel out, yet you have still used 1 of the 10 rounds of use.

Round 2: At the beginning of your turn, you use a standard action to deactivate the boots. You dont use up any "charges" from the boots

Iit has been 2 rounds and you have only be allowed to perform ONE standard action, USING the Boots of Speed.

Round 3: You take a standard action to activate the boots. You gain a partial action.

Round 4: At the beginning of your turn, you use a standard action to deactivate the boots. Now, over the course of 4 rounds, you have done 6 actions. 2 activating the boots, 2 deactivating the boots and 2 *other* actions that were granted to you by the boots.

Huh??!

Even if you activated the boots at round 1, then kept them on for the duration of 10 rounds, you still lose 1 round during the 1st round, as the free partial action you get, cancels out the standard action used to activate them.
