Bordell's Tales, Chapter 2: Broken Sword

Xavier shakes his head, "I do not know my way around. If I do not have a guide, I will have to wander until I find my way. I'm not even sure where I am now. How am I supposed to find Dwarves?" He thinks to himself and then looks back at his legs, and he stretches them again to see how they feel today. "I will want to take that sword with me, though."

He looks around for food, hopefully Snow brought supplies to Jade, "Snow, I met a barbarian tribe before--do you know them?" Xavier mentions Alpha and Horned Owl to Snow.

"First, you don't go anywhere for now. You might think you haev recovered, but you havn't. You still seems tired and you just pass the last eight month in a coma, you can take a week to gain strength before leaving." tells Jade. You can't tell if that was a suggestion or an order.

"I know Horned Owl, he was my mentor. It is not unusual that an apprentice seek knowledge to a shaman of another tribe. It is a good way to make sure the knowledge doesn't leave with a tribe if it is wipe out by the war of the famine. His tribe have moved when your order have fallen. Horned Owl told these lands would not bring good to our tribes for the next years... and it's true that we are starving, and there is no possible raids, as all the border villages have been destroyed by the war between Theor and Gaile, and by the darkness." tells Snow.

"And for looking for dwarves. I don't know where you should start... I know many bed child story, and the only commune thing about these stroy is dwarves are short and mainly lives underground... and they will dig under your bed and kidnap you if your are not wise... bed child story, as I told you. But it surely come from some truth."

"I'm just stretching my legs--even if I can't go travelling now, I'd like to be able to excercise my legs a little bit. They've been in disuse for eight months."

Xavier nods as Snow explains his relation to Horned Owl. "Well, Horned Owl was a very wise man, so I'm sure you learned well from him. He's also very knowledgeable, so maybe he knows something about the dwarves. I may try to find him later."

Snow nods at you. "Yes, maybe he knows something, but you should take time to think about your vision. It might not have all the answers, but if you really have to find the dwarves, a race that havn,t been seens for centuries, your god would likely have given you a clue. But finding Horned Owl will not be an easy task, his tribe have start to move, and they may move for years before settling down again."

"If you want to stretch your legs, you can walk down the path in front of the house. It is safe and it lead to the river where I found you. I sugges you to not go too far." suggest Jade.

"Well, there was a mountain range, and a large oak tree in the middle of a glade. Maybe I have to find that." Xavier shrugs at Snow, "I figured it was symbolic, though. It might not be a bad place to start."

He turns to Xavier, "I suppose the fresh air would be nice. I wanted to at least walk around inside, until my legs were strong again." He stretches his legs again, and bends them, trying to feel how much strength they have. If he is able, he will attempt to stand up.

You try to stands up. You do it with success, but it seems hard. Even after one of your worst day of training you weren't that tired. You think you'll be able to walk, but not run or fight, at least, not efficiently. You decide to go outside. You open the door and are a moment blinded by the sun. You smell the fresh air and start to looka round.

Your are at the top of a small hill. Below is a large river that flow gently. A small group of trees surround the house, most likely hiding it form people that are on the other side of the hill. The trees are turning to the green, as small leaves are growing on the branches. You hear some birds singing around the house. The air is cold, but you feel the breeze that blow from teh south is carrying some hotter air. The ground is wet, and a few patch of snow are still melting under the sun. A tree next to the pâth that goes down have not yet his leaves, but is covered ny with and pink flowers.

<I hate that I walk so slowly.> Xavier takes a few steps out of the house and takes in the view. <At least it's a nice area. I wonder if there are mountains in the area.> He slowly makes his way to the tree with flowers to get a closer view, and, then he looks back over the house. He turns again and follows the path.

You look at the tree. You see the white petl with a pink trace on it, like if something had tried to get out of the heart of teh flower, or maybe it tried to get in. You see a bee that travel from one flower to another. While you look at that, you fells strange. All that seems so far from the events you just heard, so far from what happened eight months ago, or yestrday for you.

You walk down the path to the river. The river is large and it seems calm, but you see the flow is strong, and it would be hard to swim through without being drag on half a mile before reaching the other side.

You hear footstep behind you. You turn around and see Snow. "I just want to tell you goodbye. I have to leave, but I'll be back in a few days. I gave more berries to Jade. You should take one per day until you can eat normally."

Xavier nods, "I hope to eat normally soon. I would like some meat and bread. Though, berries and soup will keep me for now. Thank you for the help." He turns back to the river, and looks upstream. <... How far did I travel?>

After some time looking around, Xavier goes back to the tree with the flowers and examines the tree. Likely finding nothing, he returns inside.

You wlak back to Jade's house. Climbing back the hill seems hard, and when you stop to inspect the tree again, you take some rest too, as you feels your legs have tired. You smells the perfume of the flower, which is sweet. You take advantage of the sun, who starts to slowly fall in the sky. Your are past mid-afternoon, and you feel hungry. You remember you havn't eat anything today. You climb back to teh house and enter again.

As you enter, you smells the perfume of a baking bread. "I thought you would like something a bit more consistant. So I'm making some bread with the soup. You can always tear it in small piece if it is too hard to bite, but if you can walk, you can surely eat some bread." She is right, you can eat the bread, and with the soup and a berry, it fills well you belly, even if you have eaten less than half you used to eat. It must be the month of living on the juice of a berry that have made that.

During the night you wake up. your mind wander on the events around your trip to Theor, trying to gather more things about Kriegspire, if there was some sign about his betrayal. As you think of that, you fall alseep again. You dream gathered around the night where you have met Sylvain, one of the huntmaster of the baron of Taran, the nice and good rabbit cooked by Kriegspire, the stories told around the fire...

You wake up. It's been three days you have spend mainly sleeping and eating. Once per day, you have gone walking around, to take fresh air. You have started to eat more, no meat yet, but the meals are becoming more consistant, and you feels the strength gathering in your body.

"Snow should come today." Jade tells you, as she see you are awake. "You wake up earlier each day. You slept only around twelves hour today. I was thinking, you might like to have some fish today, we could go fishing. There is a good fishing spot five minutes of walk from here... well, make it ten at the speed you walk."
