Bored?

Hmmm, I think the new Lord of the Rings book is vastly superior to MERP in every single possible way imaginable. But, likely, neither one is what you're looking for.

Every way except organization. I hated the organization of that book so much I gave it away. LoTR RPG is dead to me.

I'm certainly not bored.

My DM dropped a hint that we might suffer some party deaths on sunday, so I've been looking through some old books to get inspiration for a possible new character. It's really made me interested in some of the books I haven't looked at in ages.

Plus, I remembered that some of my friends have borrowed my books and not given them back, so I get to rectify that, too. :D

It's been three years of constant D&D at this point, so yeah, I'm getting bored. It's the story of the characters in the campaign that's keeping me going more than anything else; the "crunch" of D&D has lost some of its shine. It's a solid system, but is at times too complex. There has been a recent diversion, though: a Marvel Super Heroes campaign that is a joy for all the reasons you don't play D&D - quick, fast and loose storytelling with emphasis on player creativity instead of creative manipulation of the ruleset.

I'm running one D&D campaign at the moment, gearing up for a second, and playing in a third, and the only reason I've not nixed one or two of them is the story involved in each campaign.

Overall, D&D itself is getting a little tiresome, but it's not the fault of the game. Rather, I've played it a lot since August 2000.

Ars Magica is my frist love; I would love to play Agone, Mechanical Dream, and Blue Planet.

Wow, if only you were in Miami, I could use my Ars Magica books again. :D

edit: to fix the quote

Forceuser, If I played that much D&D since August 2000, I'd be sick of it, too! :) Everybody needs a change of pace now and again; our group's change of pace ranges from different game systems, to group movie-watching, to weekends off with the family. I haven't been tired of D&D for a while because it always feels like we're just getting started. However, there have been recent rumblings about other DM's picking up the reins, and I'm always up for that. :)

One of them threatened a d20 Star Wars game, and inside of 24 hours I had a Gungan Jedi I'm hoping will see daylight.

Nheysa passion; Theysa serenity.
Nheysa death; Theysa Force."

I'm not bored of D&D mind you. It's the new releases I guess I'm bored with. None of them look like they're covering any new ground.

Now that's not 100% accurate by any means. AEG just came out with Empire which looks like it covers some areas missed. Atlas just did Crime & Punishment, another ignored area, but the vast majority of material coming out looks like it did last year. Monsters, Feats, Prestige Classes, PDF going Print (which is great to have as a print product but does nothing for me idea wise.), etc...

Or, they're not covering old ground in new ways.

I've got stuff coming up. Honest and truly.
