The book I mentioned above is a compilation of essays on various topics, disguised as album and concert reviews. It hits the highlights of his career -- from the late 60s to just before his death.
It should be available in any large library system -- and definitely through interlibrary loan, if they don't have it on hand. I actually haven't revisited the material since the late 80s, so I probably shouldn't hype it too much. But it is worth checking out, just for the cultural caché.
