BotR Holy Warriors vs. Dragon's alt. Paladins

I've got both the Dragon mag with the varient paladins for different alignments, as well as the Book of the Righteous. I'm trying to decide which to use in my campaign.

I was wondering which other people were using and also if anyone had tried converting the BotR holy warriors to match the 3.5 Paladin?

I've used the Holy Warriors and personaly I like the versatility of it. I say the alt Paladins in Dragon, but I'm just so happy with the Holy Warrior that I never thought of replacing it.

I hate all the alternate paladins. I hated them when they were included in the FRSB and Defenders of the Faith. They're just a way for people who find playing paladins "too hard" to get similar powers without the restrictions. What's next? Chaotic monks?

I'd have to say I also prefer the BotR holy warriors over the alt paladins in Dragon. The holy warriors are much more versatile, and give the player more options, wheras the paladins in Dragon, while different, all have the same abilities. Get the Unholy Warrior's Handbook by GR too- it fits right into the BotR mythology and mechanics, and gives you evil options for holy warriors.

Just to toss something else into the mix, Monte's Book of Hallowed Might includes simple and portable rules for NG and CG paladins. They're excellent, and they look to be completely 3.5e compatible.

You don't think that there can be as many restrictions on playing a different holy warrior with a different alignment? I can be just as hard to be dedicatedly chaotic neutral as to be lawful good...

By definition, not really.

At any rate, I prefer BotR. By a country mile.

I have seen the idea of variant alignment paladins rehashed many times... from a Dragon in the early 100s, all the way to monte's Book of Hallowed Might and AEG's Good. They aren't bad, but they sort of lack character.

But BotR let's you craft the holy warrior to their faith and the game background... which is, IMO, preferable.

I hate alignment. Maybe that's just me, though. ;)
