BOYCOTT of Wotc miniatures

Well, Wotc has decided to reward our continued support of their minis line by screwing us with a 30% price increase on every booster pack, raising the retail from 9.99 to 12.99. It would seem that's what we get for making their miniatures a success.

Pissed? Yeah, me too.

So here's what I propose...

We draw a line in the sand and boycott all Wotc minis until they agree to reverse their price change.

Let's show them they can't keep doing this to us.

Well, it's a common business practice to offer lower introductory prices for new products as a way to attract new customers. After a while, the price rises (usually once a solid customer base has been established). So I'm not all that surprised by the move.

Of course, I think the product line sucks so it doesn't matter to me anyhow.

Isn't it just the Giants of Legend thingies that are getting the price boost? And couldn't that be because they're physically larger?

Not sure, but my surfing the wizards boards appeared to reflect a $12.99 price for the Archfiend box sets - per a recent press release that has not been confirmed as far as I know yet

GoL will be $15.99 per that same thread

Yeah doesn't suprise me any. I don't play the mini's game but I have but a couple booster packs. Not real impressed but they do in a pinch. I would be much more happy if they made a metal caste of the mini's that would rock. But the one's I thought sucked I just sawed off and used the bases for my reaper mini's.

WotC will lose some business over the price increase; but the minis are likely to still be competively priced. When there are no cheaper alternatives, what do you do?

Most people are likely just to buy fewer miniatures. It's part of a general rise in WotC prices, anyway.

Cheers!

If you don't like it, then don't buy it. Sooner or later, Wizards will get the message and cancel the miniatures line (including planned Star Wars) altogether.

Simple as that.
