Well, I think there are cheaper alternatives - Mage Knight figures. Granted, you can't use them in official D&D tournaments, but other than that...
Heck, just use counters. Or those Cardboard Heroes figures.

Maybe when and if the price increases you'll actually be able to find the new ones on the shelf. How many of you have actually seen Dragoneye?

I've seen (and bought, damn they're adicting) lots here in toronto.
And since I think I'm already getting them from my FLGS for below market value a price increase isn't a big deal.

Eh, I don't know that I'd buy them at $12.99 a pack. They honestly aren't that good a miniature, but they are dirt cheap. I don't buy them for the quality, and the randomness turns me off. But they are dirt cheap. Prices going up are not going to endear me to them.

With the current pricing you purchase them at $1.25 per mini. Under the rumored new pricing they will cost $1.63. That's an increase of 38 cents each. By comparison, the average unpainted pewter mini still costs about $3.50 each. So, you are still getting these for almost $2 under what you would pay for an often unassembled pewter mini that you have to paint yourself. Sure, you can make that pewter mini much more pretty, but really, how many of us have boxes of unpainted pewter lying forgotten somewhere in our house? I know I do.

me too. i'm all for letting the Chinese kids paint the minis for me. ;)

i agree; i think they're still a bargain at the new price. i'll keep picking up a few boosters from each set as long as i think they're worthwhile. (and the quality appears to be going up with each set, too.)
