Bracers and Defender

Could a monk wear Bracers of Armor and wield a longsword of Defending while fighting with his unarmed flurries? If so, would the AC bonuses stack?

The Bracers are an armor bonus and the Defender is an enhancement bonus, so I'm assuming yes. I'm also thinking that it is fine to hold a sword while you beat someone to death with kicks and whatnot (flavor text for the flurry of blows), but I wanted to be sure.

IMO, holding != wielding. In my game, at least, he'd have to make at least one attack with the sword as part of the flurry to get the benefit of the Defending property. YMMV.

Was activating a weapon of defending explicitly listed as a free action in 3.0?

I noticed that a Luckblade uses the term "possessor" rather than "wielder" for its special abilities. Though neither are a defined term, I think that it shows enough intent for me to accept that "wielding" is more than just holding it in your hand.



Is there any easy way, using just the 3.5 core books, for a monk to get and "enhancement" bonus to his armor class?
