bracers of armor

do bracers of armor ruin all the monks abilities just as if he was wearing armor or is that the whole point of the item? That you can gain armor bonuses higher then your class can wear at teh cost of gold ... it does use force to do it, not restrictive metal so i don't see why not. It would stack with rings of prot too which would be handy.

It's kinda the whole point of the item besides protecting wizards and other spellcasters with arcane spell failure chances.

thats exactly what i thought, but it wouldn't be the first time i've discovered something like that that turns out to be false and i get disapointed.

thanks

Ok. Bracers or armor are wondrous items, not armor. They give an armor bonus, but even weapons can do that if you craft them that way.

The entry in the monk class description refers definitely to armor, not armor bonuses.

next question; (90% sure i already know the answer but what the hell, why not) dust of disappearance... is it a one shot item or is it reusable? It says nowhere that it is consumed after one use... but i imagine that you would have to gather it up again if it were not consumed... what are peoples thoughts?

well... the 90% part was supposed to imply that i pretty much figured it was one shot... but who knows... maybe a maid would come across the dust and sweep it up, accidentally turning herself invisible and starts freaking out :D

That's an interesting quirk about the Dust items I never really thought about before. I suppose one side effect of re-use would be that the pile of dust would keep getting larger over time, as you would have to constantly get more and more dirt in the mixture to make sure you're not accidentally leaving any magic dust behind. Eventually, the pile would probably become too large to use effectively.

Hmmm... What level spell/GP cost would a magical vacuum cleaner be?
