BRACERS of Epic Health???

True, but they only work if you choose to wield the special hammer (forget the name- never used)

and plus, if you are going that far into str, then you really have little use for dex.

I thought that they worked just like the any other items +2 enhancement item (bracers of health, gloves of dexterity etc). Guess I was wrong ...

Or are you refering to the Hammer of Thunderbolts?

What about the Gauntlets of Ogre Power? They occupy the same slot as the Gloves of Dexterity ... :)

Holdover from previous editions. And if you want to go above a +2 enhancement using only DMG magic items, it's the Belt of Giant Strength all the way.

(Nothing stops a DM from allowing a stat boost item to be made for any slot, these are just supposed to be the "iconic" items.)

Mark gleefully continues with his plans to introduce the Codpiece of Health (below-the-belt-slot-item)... ;)

I just recall a few months agon being flamed for suggesting it. And it wasn't by just one person, quite a few people said that they only used the items that were specifically listed in the DMG.
They flamed you over this? In that case, I pity them - but I pity their players even more...

Shiver Just imagining the cursed items you could make from an enchanted codpiece....

Well, my Dm has not allowed it, for the space limitations as a "balancer". He claims that amulet of health and amulet of natural armor occupy the same space. And since they both do basically the same thing (AC and HP bonus to keep you alive longer) it is unbalancing to grant you both without jakkin up the price.

Since the published WotC adventures have different location items (compared to DMG), I highly suspect that the prices should be jacked up. More importantly, the item creation rules give no mention or implication of this.

If someone can make magic items wherever they want, it would make it far too easy to craft a lot of magic items that they need in spaces that they dont use

Du'h. That would be excactly the point of crafting items to different locations. If what you say was the rules intent, surely it would've been worth mentioning?

Let me guess, they were the same people who complain that spellcasters are too powerful? Of course they are since they can duplicate effects of magic items with spells (that take no item slots), while it's too common to shaft those that have to rely on magic items for their buffs...

Just a small rant, I'm ok now ;)
