Brainstealer Dragon

so then, how's about...

Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, a brainstealer dragon must hit a creature one size category larger than itself or smaller with a tentacle attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it wins the grapple check, it establishes a hold and begins to extract the opponent’s brain. A successful grapple check each round furthers the extraction process and deals automatic tentacle damage. A brainstealer dragon can hold one creature in each tentacle, but cannot grapple an opponent with more than one tentacle. An opponent can escape with a single successful grapple check or an Escape Artist check.

I know, but I did not want to type all of "The fighter that Shade mentioned".

See what you made me do? ;)

I'm bad that way.

Improved Grab looks good. A very minor detail, but the newest lingo is "attacks of opportunity" rather than "an attack of opportunity", since it is easier to generate multiple AoOs now.

Shuffled the psi-like abilities around a bit (dragons in the MM seem to have them listed first by number of times per day, then age category they gain it, then alphabetically):

Psi-Like Abilities (Sp): 3/day—psionic suggestion (very young or older), psionic levitate (juvenile or older), psionic charm (adult or older), read thoughts (old or older), astral projection (ancient or older), plane shift (great wyrm).

And of course, we need a spell-like ability MM psionics version of that. Should require nothing more than to rearrange the list that Knight Otu originally sent me:

Psionics (Sp): 3/day - astral projection, charm monster, detect thoughts, levitate, plane shift, suggestion. Caster / Manifester level varies by age (or 1, whichever is higher); save DC 10 + dragon's Charisma modifier + spell / power level.

need some input on what age category to put the spell-like psionics, unless it's best to just use the ones that correllate to the psi-like abilities.

Drop "Caster / Manifester level varies by age (or 1, whichever is higher); save DC 10 + dragon's Charisma modifier + spell / power level." and you should be good. ;)

Always best to correlate. ;)

Astral projection seems to be gone from the ExPsiHB – would astral caravan be a good replacement?

Time to come up with some italicized text! :D Take the pertinent bits and go with it!

“combine the worst features of mind flayers and dragons”
“dreadful tentacles growing where the head should be”
“Their tiny, almost invisible scales are of a pale purple, and rubbery to the touch. Instead of a real head, they have four tentacles that can form pseudomaws when they grapple opponents. The eyes sitting behind the four tentacles are large bloated white orbs without visible lids. Their wings are fleshy layers of skin unable to strike with any real force at opponents.”

The creature before you resembles a great dragon, but even a short glance shows that the creature is not - or maybe more than a dragon. Being covered in tiny pale purple scales seems to be the dragon's most normal feature. Its wings are hardly more than fleshy layers of skin, and where its head should be, four long tentacles grow out of the neck. Two bloated white orbs sitting behind the tentacles serve as the eyes of the creature.

Good stuff. :)
