Brainstorming: A Tropical Island D&D Vacation

Thornir Alekeg

Albatross!
A group of children are digging in the sand near the shoreline. Digging down pretty deep, they find someting very odd - what appears to be a bunch of huge scales. The island has formed upon the back of a huge, dormant sea creature. Not long after the discovery, the island is "visited" by a group of people who believe the creature to be their long-lost god, and they plan to awaken the creature from its slumber.

Pirates have chosen this island, supposedly uninhabited as a place to bury their treasure, and the PCs walk up as they are burying it.

Or a shipwreck of "LOST" and follow along the plot of that series.

Or this is Gilligan's Island, and PCs have to entertain their rescue, but sneak away - since that plot device was used in half the Gilligan's Island episode.

Ok, the last two aren't that good...

Also, I don't think I could resist the urge to introduce a modified Jakandor as the beautiful island they just landed on.

Try for a bit of a holiday feel. Things might be hard, but a bit of humor would be nice. A villain they know is also on holiday and you agree to a truce to avoid killing each other.. and work together against something that everyone swears never to mention again. Like an invasion of Flumph perhaps; and the horrible villain gets captured by them, and his squeeze promises a treasure if the PC's rescue him from his dreadful jellied fate.

Something amusing anyway.
