...Btw thanks Telfon Billy for giving us a very interesting and deeply personal commentary. I personally enjoyed it...

Heh, you just liked that I gave props to Scarred Lands ;)

But I'll tkae whatever praise I can get...it beats accusations of corruption/fanboyism (surely that's a word)

Well I'd be lying if I didn't say it was slightly due to that but I will also say I think that WotC won by brand name recognition not necessarily because it was the best product in that catagory.

Sorry, I didn't notice this thread until just now. I just finished reading it (7+ pages!) and wanted to post my feelings and reactions.

We (the judges) talked at length about the decision to include WotC. This included many possible ways of not including them: specific disinclusion ("no WotC products allowed"), OGL/d20 STL use, breaking them into their own category, etc. ad nauseum. In the end, though, everyone agreed that this was an award for the best company and that it would be unfair and simply wrong to bar Wizards.

As far as OA is concerned, it was hard to place... but it had about as much setting material as the others we loked at. "Pure" setting supplements are rare.

I like the idea of breaking up adventures, but I'd be wary of breaking the others up too much; they're already small as is. If someone thinks more than one or two categories should be added, perhaps they'd suggest which ones to drop?

Finally, I'm sure none of the judges would, or even could, be swayed as some have suggested... I'd turn someone in to Morrus in an instant.
