Brew Potion above 3rd level spells..

Have a Cleric with the Brew Potion feat. 9th level. He can brew potions of 3rd level and lower spells. Just curious -what will he need in the future to be able to brew potions for spells above 3rd level?

I believe the Master Alchemist class from Magic of Faerun has the ability to brew higher level potions. This is the only way I can think of to do that.

Craft Wondrous Items

Theoretically you can use it to create a one shot item for any spell. It can take the shape of a potion, scroll, or just about anything else.

As a DM I would probably require both Brew Potion and Craft Wondrous if the player wants to exactly duplicate a potion (i.e. drink it instead of command word) and have it contain higher level spells.

Or do the Master Alchemist prestige class.

Any such "new item" would be subject to DM approval. That would make it a house rule, and not automatically available to any player (esp. in tournament situations).

What exactly is your point here?

Tome and Blood mentions Caliban's post as an option, page 73.

Everytime I see this mentioned (and above) it is said like it is simply written there. I've read page 73 for the nth time, and still don't see that. Is it just implied from the other 'item in wrong form' examples?

See table 4-3 on page 74 of Tome and Blood.

BREW ELIXIR (Item Creation)
You can brew magical draughts that are more powerful than potions.
Prerequisites: Caster level 9th, Brew Potion
Benefit: You can brew potions of spells up to 6th level, called elixirs. An elixir’s base price is 50 gp x caster level x spell level.

There you go... it's my attempt to bring back elixers of life and similar things.
