Brilliant Energy Weapons - Ignore Shields?

If it ever came up, would you allow someone to swing a brilliant energy weapon through a Wall of Force?
Yes, it would ignore a wall of force because it is non-living matter. The sword is not ethereal or incorporeal. What it does is clearly stated and that is ignore non-living matter.

I would rule the hilt it not BE so how effective they could be swinging through a wall of force would be questionable, but the blade part of the weapon would bypass a wall of force according to how it is written.

Except of course that force, of course, is not matter.

Could you get yourself a Tower Shield, use it to give you Total Cover, but use the Brilliant Energy weapon to attack through it? Grant it, you may not be able to see your enemy through the Tower Shield, so you'd need some Goggles of X-Ray Vision or some such... But would this be allowable?

Oddly, Brilliant Energy does not ignore Cover bonuses.

Call it what you will, magic hoodoo or spirit karma force, it is not living matter. Any other category you stick it into is not covered by the description in any way and I would rule that since it is not living matter it gets ignored. Every campaign is different I suppose so rule on it how you like.

What about deflection bonuses? Those aren't living matter. (And are, I would speculate, force effects)

Unimportant since useing it to gain total cover makes you give up all of your attacks.

But, it definately seems strange that it would ignore all nonliving material, and if you can see through the offending material that would otherwise stand in your way, that you cant simply bypass it.

Definately some sort of an oversight, but at least it shouldnt be too hard to adjucate.

Or alternatively, reasonable game balance that the DM needs to be slightly creative about giving a description to.

dcollins, Scion, please give it a rest.

Scion - that post from dcollins didn't warrant a snippy response.

dcollins - the same can't be said of all your posts to Scion in the last week or two.

Could we shake hands and make up, or agree to meet in an abandoned warehouse at midnight (to fight in the Old Style), or something, but just... don't let this turn into a feud, okay?

Thanks.
