Alzrius should totally change his board title to "I love your work. Here's what's wrong with it."

In all honesty, from what he's told me, I look forward to getting a copy of this :)

I read some more and have to ask- why the term splicing? It means fusion, not fission. Now that I write that, quantum fission would be a better name for the concept.

There are a couple of reasons I used the term "splicing" for Dark Splicing. I was originally thinking about splicing rope. You take two lengths of rope, or a single rope that has been cut, and you unbraid the rope and then braid it back together connecting the two ends. With magic you are taking the building blocks of existence and taking them appart and braiding part it back into yourself. It's "dark" because the negative energy part is not braided back in and is left unaccounted for.

The other reason is that the term sounded neat, it's not overused and it's not so technical that it's confusing. Hawking's kind of got the market on fission. Those that figured out I was talking about fission - cool. Those that didn't could just lean on the more medival sounding term Dark Splicing and use it as a new kind of magic.

I hope that clears it up - otherwise I'm going to have to try make something out of nothing.

Broken Update
Sept 27th 2007

I've just finished playtesting on Broken: The Lost Moon. My players tore the setting appart and greatly abused the radiation and mutation rules from the core book but much fun was had. We had to come up with some variant rules to deal with the high strength score assigned to WereBears and my players encouraged me to remove the atmosphere from the lunar surface!
The writing is complete and I'm editing before moving on to layout. I've got 18 illustrations done and plan to bump that up to around 25 before I'm finished. The book will be about 30-40 pages.

Going back to space, I'm preparing a playtest for Broken: The Pipedream. The writing is about a third complete but should be finished before the playtest is over. I've finished 5 of 25 illustrations so much work is in store for me.
The writing for Zakume Pyramid has started and I've hammered out 3 illustrations but there is a mountain of work to do yet.

It is my hope to get all three books done before the end of the year.
