First Post
Hmmmm....

This episode seemed to pack a lot in it, yet not really go anywhere. Still I enjoyed it. Willow gets some punishement from an unlikely source, Spike and Buffy return to the scene of Spike's neutering and the remainder of the gang face what we've been musing about on these boards for a while - namely Giles.

All in all it was a satisfying episode with a few good twists and turns.

Let's see what others thought...

SPOILERS WITHIN!!!

Spoilers within (as noted in the subject header), so you really shouldn't be reading this if you don't want to be spoiled.

You have been warned!

The Willow storyline started out really weird, but overall made a good story. It follows up some more on Willow's guilt, which is exactly what the series needs to do, given the whole "Dark Willow" saga. From what we've seen, Willow has basically been forgiven by her friends, understandably, but there's still the question of whether or not she's paid her penance (even after this episode).

The Giles storyline was kind of predictable. So we finally know. It seemed to me that if it was the First, then the gang would have discovered the truth in a very different way. It was an interesting subplot, I admit, and it pretty much kept me riveted for a few weeks, but the finale was then somewhat anticlimactic. Not that I ever really thought Giles was dead, because it would have been a pretty crappy way to kill him off. There's still the loose end of what happened to Giles, and why he's been acting a bit strange (never touching anything). Was that just a red herring, or is there perhaps something more to all this? Just because he's corporeal doesn't mean everything's fine again.

The decision Buffy has to make, though... very interesting. I bet she opts to have the chip removed, although simply having it fixed might make for a more interesting choice, because it raises the level of tension. Spike would be pretty upset if Buffy failed to free him, despite having the power.

The mention of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen... way cool.

I thought it was alright, except that I haven't liked Kennedy, and I like her even less now. I really didn't like the way they fixed Willow...IIRC, my reaction was "Geez, who wrote this crap?". Which is a shame, since I enjoyed the story of Willow suffering. I liked the Giles subplot, and the B/S subplot, except I kept wondering why the initiative wasn't filled with concrete. Not my favorite of the season, but not bad. I'm am real curious to know how Giles survived, and what Buffy is going to do concerning Spike. I have a hunch, but ME has surprised me more than once.

Although I'm new to the Buffy fan club here, it doesn't seem to me that the writers/directors/whoever overlook many little details.

So, is the fact that Willow and Kennedy didn't pick up the gun when they went in the house going to set up a plot for the future? Will someone find it in the yard?

My fiance brought up the same point. However since the town is frequented by vampires, demons and other ancient evils (not mention the Hellmouth), I don't think a lone gun sitting in the backyard of the Summer's household will become a plot issue.

But you never know...
