Buffy finale

Was anyone else reaching for a bucket during all the weepy scenes? My god, I would so not watch this show if the supporting cast wasn't so good. All in all though, I was very dissapointed by the sappy lameness of this finale. And no surprises about what happened to Spike.

Heaven forfend someone should portray simple, uncomplicated, deep and caring emotion on TV occasionally!

Sorry, uv23, I have to disagree. Sometimes real people get all weepy. Given the situation, and the characters involved, it was entirely appropriate (and, in fact, nothing else really would have done the trick), and it was well done. I commend Joss for daring to be a little sappy :)

It's because the entire cast is so good (not just the "supporting" cast. Who would you consider to be "supporting" in an ensemble show like Buffy?) that I thought the season finale was so good. After 6 season, we know the characters, we undersatnd what motivates them ans why they do what they do. If this was done in Season 1, it wouldn't have had nearly the same impact (Okay, that may be wrong, since Buffy's cast turned out to be the extremely rare exception on TV where the cast and writing both gel instantly).

To be honest, the "sappy lameness" was exactly what I was looking for after such a dark and depressing season. This doesn't mean I'm going to be watching movies like Beaches or Fried Green Tomatoes, or reading books from Oprah's Book Club, just that I thought that the "sappy lameness" had its place here and helped to make an extremely entertaining finale. Watching Alyson Hannigan play evil again was just an added bonus. :D

Okay, I am now frickin confused.

I got used to seeing two Slayers (Faith and Buffy, and before that, I know it was an African-American girl and Buffy).

But what got me drawers in a twist... Spike has a soul now?!?!!!

Hehehe. :D

I can't wait to see a more tortured, more guilty Spike once his conscience kicks in. And should Angel escaped from his current cliffhanging (well, not exactly hanging from a cliff ... a place with a lot of depth), I wonder how he is going to react to his former lackey copying him?

BTW, it was a good ending. But what I hated was Willow trying to quit using her magic during that season. That's like telling a fat guy he should stop eating entirely to solve his problem.

I don't know about you guys but I am going to miss Tara (and the actress who played her). :(

Apparently. And, if he's still a vampire, do you have any idea how much it mucks up the prophecies in Angel? That show is partly motivated by prophecies concerning "the vampire with a soul".

The simple way to deal with it, of course, it to make Spike human now. If not, though, I look forward to Spike having to go to Angel for help dealing with having a soul again :)

I have no specific cases to justify my dissapointment. Suffice it to say that last season, when buffy died and so forth, I actually shed a tear for her. It was a brilliant finale. But she has done so much whining this season that anything that comes out of her mouth is automatically suspect. It just felt weak to me. Willow being won over by love. Giles laughing hysterically for no reason. Buffy going on and on. Maybe I've just finally had it with the show. Whereas Angel has proved to be dynamic and interesting, Buffy just seems like more of the same to me.

It seems that I'm the only person who didn't like Faith as a character. I don't find the actress unattractive, but I don't find her particularly attractive either, so I have no interest in seeing her again, although I was really impressed with her last appearance on Buffy and her appearances on Angel.

I kind of saw it coming, but you never know with the Buffy team. Maybe if Spike played D&D, he would have known to word his wish better. :) My question is...Why does everyone seem to think that he will feel guilty and try to be good just because he has a soul now? Sure, it worked that way with Angel, but I'm still not sure he got his actual soul back, and not some other poor slob's. Some of the most evil characters we've seen have been people with souls, so maybe Spike with a soul will be a far more dangerous Spike.

No, no-no-no-no. I did not say he's going to be a good boy from now on. The only things Spike and Angel shared is that both have a soul ... and both "slept" with Buffy. :D

Despite the fact that we have seen Spike fighting side-by-side with the Scooby Gang many times, does not mean he will be a good guy himself with the help of his soul.

But he will have to feel the burden of his past crimes against humanity.

Honestly, I doubt that even with a soul, Buffy would find Spike more appealing than a "bedtime boy-toy" and Dawn's babysitter/bodyguard.

Spike will always be a luckless, tragic figure.

And that's why we'll never see her again. She's haveing success elsewhere. So, they just need to say that she dies so they can activate a New Slayer.
