The original T1 rules. Though there are some pretty large stretches in it (I mean, should nearly every peasant house have a magic item??)

I was actually looking over the original T1 the other day, for a conversion to Arcana Unearthed. I didn't notice magic items as being outrageously common, but the money... oh my. I guess it confirms that none of my players read the module on the sly way back when, otherwise they would've skipped the moathouse and just knocked over the moneychanger's shop - guy's got 30000 gp worth of stuff in there! In a hamlet of under 100 people, no less.

Did anyone notice that Elizabeth Moon's Divided Allegiance was pretty much TVoH? Right down to the ranger in disguise with the BIG weapon...

Yeah, I always got a kick out of that. I must admit that Jaroo Ashstaff in my games was never the same after I read her portrayal of the Kuakgan.

how did you convert the assassins in L2? using a third party core class or did you make them into rogues/ fighters with the intention of them eventually reaching the PrC?

Im running T1-4 in 3.5, and this is what I'm doing. I convert assassins as min/maxed rog/ftr, and you are able to take the prestige class fairly quickly (lvl 6).

A game is always good when it includes giant frogs.

None of my group ever played 1E or 2E, or heard of this module before I started it this summer. The giant frog encounter was the first combat and it caused a PC death. It will be famous for DECADES.

Well, I used a third party assassin class - Mongoose Publishing's Powerclass Assassin. The PrC never thrilled me as an assassin, so it got renamed 'Greycloak Assassin' and tied to a specific organization, while the Mongoose class is used for the more common killers.

I didn't mean to hijack your thread . This thread caught my eye and I just wanted to share what has worked for me!
I'll have to check out the Mongoose one...

Well, the original 3.0 Assassin class was clearly an organizational assassin class (tied into Greyhawk), so this works for me.
