Building a Better Tumble

I'm not really much of a number cruncher, but for a compromise between the camps advocating the Tumble DC opposed by BAB or Reflex, what about having the DC opposed by BAB and[/] Reflex? Set the DC at 10 + BAB + Reflex to Tumble around and 20 + BAB + Reflex to Tumble through a space. I've read arguments here that either one is not good enough (and that either one is good enough), but would it be unbalanced against the Tumbler if both were used in the DC?

Also, another idea: What about taking the parts of Tumble relating to moving through threatened spaces and making that part of the Mobility feat? That would really make Mobility about mobility, not to mention making it more useful overall. Tumble would still be useful in other areas; falling, bonuses to defensive fighting, etc, but if you feel Tumble would be too weakened by removing that part of it, then you could incorporate Balance into Tumble at that point.

Well my point is that with the opposing by BAB then you have ensured that only monks and rogues can tumble. No one else can ever succeed and the rogue may not even bother as tumbling all of three squares, one of which is already free, is just not worthing always putting a skill point into. Even a dedicated rogue isn't going to be getting a 36 or better dex any time soon. Monks however don't care because they move faster. So if you feel like only monks should tumble, then this is the system for you. If you think a fighter should be able to cross class for partial success then the BAB kills it. Challenges are supposed to scale but so are characters effectiveness.
