Building a Character: Help Please

ended up going rogue2/bard1.

"silver" gahan is his name and he is the leader of our group.

i ended up taking whip dagger as my bard weapon. that brings up a question. or several of them really.

my dm allowed me to use weapon finesse for this whip. very nice when you are weak like gahan is.

the whip is concidered a projectile weapon. so i would think i cannot flank with it. is that right?

also does point blank shot apply to it?

You got gypped out of a feat, my friend... Your DM is graciously allowing you to take Weapon Finesse so that you use your Dex modifier for attacks with your whip, instead of using the Dex modifier that whips, as ranged weapons, normally use...

True... although it's debatable in the case of the Lasher PrC.

Yes. And Rapid Shot, and Precise Shot, but not Far Shot.

Disarm is generally a no-no IMO, as the disarm trick is an opposed attack roll. The whip gets a +2 to it, however it is a 'small' weapon, meaning if you are trying to disarm someone with a longsword the target gets +8 to the roll(+4 for each size difference), while you only get the +2. Which means that if you fail, the target gets to immediately try to disarm you, and that opponent still has the +8, and you only the +2.
Chances are you will lose, and then you will be unarmed for when that opponent decides to move and attack you in melee on his initiative. What do you do now? You gotta draw a weapon (as move equivalent) or run (giving an AoO). Not a good situation in any event, and I would only try to disarm if that opponent is in melee already, and even then I would trip him first to give my front-line buddies a +4 to their attacks.

In any event, I think the your character is a back line kinda guy with hopefully the Dex and ranged feats to support his comrads with some effectiveness. I think Hyper smurf is right about getting robbed - the whip is already a ranged weapon.

Can you disarm with ranged weapons? Or is whip an exception?
