Building a PC Frenzied Berzerker

Wuss! play a Barb/Frenzied Berserker. None of this cleric/monk stuff.

You want a wisdom of 20? (14 + magic item).

Noooo!

Take a wisdom of 4. That is a Frenzied Berserker. (Even if you are doing point buy, voluntarily reduce the 8 to a 4 because its "in character").

name your character "Groo"

Have fun.

Ditch the monk - as was said by Diirk, character builds that require an alignment shift to pull off are a tad lameish.

Do Bard AND Sorcerer instead!

Bard 2 - can sing the Doom Song (ala Deekin), and have access to some curing stuff so you can take care of yourself and not have to rely on some namby pamby cleric once the fight is over. (One of the possible consequences being that said cleric may in fact be dead... oh well... his fault for getting in your way I guess).

Sorcerer 1 - Two words, my friend. True. Strike. Verbal/Focus components and makes that initial (full out Supreme Power Attacking) charge into battle with your 2h weapon all that more memorable.

A significant mobility gap between you and the rest of the group will be just as useful as a good will save. Isn't the save against frenzy when injured based on the damage taken? So making that save will be pretty much impossible at higher levels.

What about Holy Liberator or Blackguard? Couldn't you quickly get divine grace, then take the rest in frenzy beserker?

I have played a FB, and though I was able to ultimately achieve a good will save as I got higher levels I had to rely on a little trick wherein I had my FB tie an Immovable Rod to himself under his armor using a Rope of Entanglement to be activated with a Mage Hand spell from his sorcerer friend when he got out of hand.

The build for my Halfling Frenzied Berzerker was as follows with the base will save for each class:

Sorcerer 1 (+2), Barbarian 2 (0), Fighter 2 (0), Rogue 3 (+1) Frenzied Berzerker 10 (+3), Holy Liberator 1 (+2).

That's a total of +8 which becomes +9 with a +1 racial bonus for being a halfling. If he was frenzying, he was almost always raging, so with the +2 rage bonus that +9 was always +11 when it came time to save versus killing comrades. A wisdom score of twelve gave another +1 to make that same save a +12. I had some magic items to buff up the save after that.

Even with a Luckstone (another +1) and a Cloak of Resistance (+5) for a total of +15 (before I took a level of Holy Liberator and still had only a +2 for FB) I still remember the fatal session when I still failed my save and in one round managed to kill the party monk, knock the party psion out, and bring the party arcane trixter within points of also being unconsious or dead. Needless to say, I took Iron Will as my next feat. Good times.

That doesn't quite work.
Mage Hand allows you to move items, not necessarily manipulate them.
It also doesn't work on magic items.

Geoff.

I'm playing a character who is only level 5 currently but will eventually be a ftr 4/clr 1/barb 1/holy liberator 3/berserk 1/frenzied berserker 10. :D Good will save from cleric and HL, cha to saves from HL, Leadership to justify putting one of my higher stats in cha, and as a bonus, HL gives immunity to charm/compulsion effects - none of that "charm the berserker, kill the rest" garbage for us. ;)

A good feat that can be reasonably inferred to work with Frenzy just like other rage-enhancing feats is Righteous Wrath (BoED) - allows you to distinguish friend from foe and offer mercy while raging. ;)

You are correct. My memory was a little off. It was the Ranged Legerdemain ability, which our Arcane Trickster had (Tome and Blood), that was used to activate the Immovable Rod.
