Building races using a CR/ECL calculator?

Holy moly. I have got to say, thank you. I picked up GT a while ago, and haven't had much reason to go through it really closely. But having read that, and done a bit of poking around, it sounds like GT is doing something pretty darn close to what I wanted.

Thanks! Keep pimping the Chi-Rho method, because that's how I found this groovy post: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=127923 which basically lays it out.

For those (like myself) that don't know the Chi-Rho thing, this thread (starting at post 70) should get you up to speed: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=86471&page=2)

It was my pleasure. And I would like to return the thanks, as I had not read the "groovy post" you provided above. It captures in a nutshell what I was grasping on some gut level from reading Grim Tales. It helped crystallize some of my thoughts regarding LA and why I'm going this direction in my games.

Enjoy,
Flynn

ok, so this is way off topic, but its kindof on topic as well

the link provided to Upper Krusts system does not mention the aquatic suptype or amphibious. what do people think this would account to in a fractional cr system? also this system goes into alot of detail about the cr of a type + hitdice, but what would the the cr of something getting a non humanoid type simply based on its immunity to person spells. is it balanced because it looses out on enlarge person?

I really like the idea of building a race using this system and aiming for a .48 or around their... mostly because helping me confirm that my custom races i was unsure of, are in fact balanced, or at the minimum, they seem to come to end up in the .48 range (halfings). so thanks Upper Krust for making this system, and for the op for introducing me to this system.
