Bull Rushing into a Grapple

You mean, bull rush an opponent an involved in a grapple? First of all, it wouldn't provoke an AoO from the opponent. Secondly, there's no rule adjudicating what would possibly happen or how successful. If all members of the grapple wanted to disengage from the grapple, then the bull rush would work as expected. If they didn't, then you need to decide what to do as it's not covered. I would probably required an opposed grapple check to beat everyone who didn't want to let go of the grapple prior to rolling the bull rush results. If any of it fails, then the bull rush fails.

I would go with your strength check has to beat all the strength checks in the grapple to move the pile....similar to how a person has to beat all his opponents grapple checks to free himself.

Ok I think I've got what i would do now. Attempting to bull rush an individual in a grapple should trigger the escape a grapple scenario.

if the individual wants to escape and following the grapple rules does escape then resolve the bull rush as normal.

if the individual is stuck in the grapple, I'd have the grappler of the highest str that is attempting to keep hold of the target make a check against the bull rusher with +2 bonus per assistant grappler.

I'm not sure what I'd do if the bull rusher wanted to move the entire grapple but I think it would involve determining the "size" of the grapple...

Moving the entire grapple should not be possible unless you want to allow (and create rules for) bull rushing multiple opponents at once even outside a grapple.

As to your choice, I recommend against using the escape a grapple. Escaping a grapple via escape artist is a full round action, as opposed to an opposed grapple check which takes the place of an attack (shorter).

Dude, you spelled Somerville wrong :P

I'm still not sure what you're asking, are you talking about a third party wanting to perform a bull rush on one of the participants of a grapple, a la the old "dive into someone to knock them off your friend who's pinned to the ground under them"? I guess I'd make it a grapple check with +2 for charging and (if they wanted) +2 for help from the pinned guy. If you succeeded, you bash the guy off your friend, and you both end up in the next square over.

Moving the entire grapple would be a lot more difficult. There are rules for making a grapple check to move the grapple if you're in it, but trying to do it from outside.... I'd say, bull rush against the strongest resistor, +2 for every other medium sized creature in the grapple, +4 for every other large sized, +8 for huge, etc.

If a Bull Rusher wanted to move an entire Grapple, I'd simply allow him to make opposed strength checks against each participant in the Grapple. If he beat all of the participants, I'd allow him to move the Grapple as far as possible using the least successful result.

If a Bull Rusher wanted to help a Grappler escape the grapple, I'd simply treat it as an Aid Another attempt, with the "Bull Rusher" making an opposed grapple check (DC 10) instead of a regular melee attack. The Grappler would still need to make his own "escape a grapple" attempt, but he'd get a +2 for the assistance.
