[h=2]Thresholds[/h]
A threshold is a barrier that is formed around a home by the simple act of people living in it and regarding it as a place of safety, shelter, and family. The stronger the sense of “home,” the greater the threshold. Each threshold has a rating equivalent to a step on the Ladder.

Supernatural creatures and mortals with supernatural powers suffer when they enter a Threshold. They are penalized based on the rating of the threshold itself. This can take the form of a block on actions or a reduction in power or supernatural abilities.

Remember that anyone invited in (be they a vampire, a wizard, or anything else) suffers no ill effects from the threshold and retains their full powers unimpeded.

The base rating of a threshold is Mediocre (0) for a public building, Fair (2) for a dwelling place, and Good (3) for a place of worship. This can be further modified based on how much a home the location is, how long they have lived there, how many people live there, and so on. A bachelor pad might be a rating of Average (1) but a multi-generational home could be as high as Epic (7) quite easily.
