BXCM House Rules, What did you use?

Getting lost in fantasy maps
This is a post that builds off of the general outpouring of positiveness towards the RC/BXCM version of D&D lately. I have two questions about house rules for this version of D&D.

What house-rules did you use when playing?

What house-rules were inspired by other editions of D&D or other RPGs?

Classic DnD house rules......

We're playing in a non-cannon Mystara right now. At first we kept race and class separate and added skills and feats. After a few sessions it became clear that using two PHB's (The Rules Cyclopedia and the 3e PHB) was causing some confusion as to "what rule to use when" and as DM I had to make a judgement call. So we moved from the RC to a heavily house ruled v3.5 SRD based PHB that I wrote. We're running some of the classic DnD modules so I had to be careful to not unbalance the game with all of the special powers the 3e gives when I wrote my PHB, but yet give the young (only ever played 3e) players new toys for their PCs to grow toward.

I am running everything else as classic DnD, such as monsters, treasure tables and other DM-ing stuff. I can't find a good enough reason to change my monsters. 3e just has too many stats that I don't use.

RC/BXCM? What is that?

Rules Cyclopedia and Basic/Expert/Companion/Master. BXCM were the Frank Mentzer box sets from the middle/late 1980's for the "Basic DnD" game. I refer to this system as Classic DnD so as not to confuse it with 1e-3e DnD.
