While I can appreciate the note that the 1st printing of Conan had more game effecting errors, Mongoose also did an awful lot to make up for it. You know, outside of having full color art and glossy paper with a pretty big price tag.

Sorry, but I don't understand the last part of your comment. Is it directed towards the Conan game? Or C&C?

If the latter, there is no 'glossy paper' or 'big price tag' (the C&C PHB is only $20).

I am not sure what your point is. :\

Are you trying to suggest that TLG should do something similar to Mongoose? Or that my comment about Conan was unfair?

There's a major difference - C&C has almost no game-affecting errors. The problems are just typos and other such irritating mistakes.

My understanding was that Conan virtually required the errata to be playable. C&C's actual rules errata are very minor.

Neither. The brain tends to wander. The compaission to Conan is 'unfair' in as far as Conan IS a complete game, but costs a LOT more but does a LOT more too. Based only of what has been said. No personal experience yet with C&C.

And no, Conan did not require errata to be playable. I played it several times without the errata. Unplayable... "Dude, there's like no barbarian class here! Just a blank page! WTF?" :p

Bottom Line: The Trolls could have done a hell of a lot better in the editing department. So, purely from this vantage point, it leaves a lot to be desired. None of these are game breakers (nothing like the huge faux pas that was BESM D20 Revised initial print), but they are extremely irritating at times. I know they are striving to do much better, so here is to hoping they succeed.

True, and I never claimed this. I actually really like many things about Conan (not the combat system, though).

My simple point was that the C&C editing problems are a lot less severe than those that plagued Conan.

I'm glad that TLG didn't raise up the price to include glossy paper(totally unnecessary), or full color art(again ok, but hardly necessary and I would rather pay less and get nice B&W artwork).

The only thing I think it needs is better proofreading and some layout changes, like changing the layout of the spell descriptions. Other than that I like it a lot. I prefer simpler layouts without all the watermark type things nd other stuff that made the 3.x PH hard for me to read at times.

Mythmere1 made the claim that he'd heard it was practically unplayable. Which is false.

The anti-Mongoose people on these boards are pretty ferocious... that is indeed what I'd read. I'm glad to learn otherwise.

Agreed, I'm holding off now for revised C&C because of it, but will buy it at GC if they have it. I'm still holding off Conan, because I don't have a regular gaming group. :(
