[C&C] Will there be a revised Player's book?

Have to say I agree with you Akrasia, I was trying not to be so......blunt, about it. The more I re-read it, and the more I absorb the rules, the more I like it.

:) Well, I've only been playin for 6 years or so so I can't compare this boook to too many books written twenty years ago.

If I found someone willing to run this game, I'd definately play the game. Without question, sounds like a fun game to try. But I won't purchase it, just looks too cluttered and unorganized for what I like to read. But, I'd play it over D&D if I found someone to run it.

Now, if there was a method of combining the cool rules aspects of C&C to D&D, mainly the use of Primes and skills, then I'd be set. :D

Why don't you come visit the TLG forums and discuss it? Heck, I didn't go there until day before yesterday because I knew you had to sign up. Come to find out it is an ezboards account, and I am already an exboard supporter!

well, we hope you will give the second printing a chance. Peter Bradley (who does have a master's in layout/design) has been helping us much more these days (beyond artwork).

If you take a look at any of our older stuff and then this ( CZLAYOUT ) you'll see the direction things are going.

Looking at the layout and font choice in this Yggsburg preview, I get the impression that you're going for a very retro look. I can see how somebody who's not very... understanding of this choice could hate this layout.

You should come and visit the Castles & Crusades forums.

No one has done a very in-depth thread on this topic yet, although the various threads on house rules cover some of the ways to integrate d20 and C&C.

There are two theories on it: starting with d20 as the base game, or starting with C&C as the base game. It's fairly easy to use C&C as the base game: you just import the parts of d20 that you like: same experience point progressions, skill system, whatever. Feats and xp are very easy - skills are harder. So if what you really want is feats with a simpler system, start with C&C and build.

If you want skills, it's probably easier to start with d20 and then subtract what you don't like, substituting C&C rules where you want. If you want a complex skill system, I'd wait until the Castle Keeper's Guide comes out and take a look at how C&C is going to do the optional skill system. Otherwise, if you like a complex skill system, I think C&C's probably not your best system.

It's definitely not for everyone .. the more comprehensive you like your rules, the less that C&C will do for you. It's a fast, free-flowing system that I think improves the drama of the game. But there are lots of judgement calls on the DM's part - and if you don't like the idea of that, I'd just stick with D&D.

But I'd try and ignore the layout and grammar. The game's worth it if it's your type of game.
