C.S. Friedman: Your Experience

I read the first book of the Coldfire trilogy.

Meh.

I didn't dislike it, but it was one of those first books of a trilogy that didn't get me excited enough to read the rest of the trilogy.

I've only read the coldfire trilogy, but I made the mistake of buying all three together. If I'd only bought the first one I certainly wouldn't have bothered struggling though it. It was very... unsatisfying I think is the best way to describe it.

You kinda nailed how I felt.
"Unsatisfying" is the best way I could put it, too.

I also bought all 3 together, on a whim, and I regret it. DIdn't even finish the first book, ended up trading all 3 in.

I´m reading the Coldfire triology at the moment and I´m pretty impressed.
I really want to play D&D when I`m reading it.

So hard to get advice on a book sometimes. I really enjoyed the Coldfire books. I have not read the others, but friends say they are very good. Once you get through the beginning of the trilogy (couldn't tell you the spot), it picks up. I enjoyed the fact that some good guys didin't really know what was going on, but I won't spoil you with what I liked!

i adored the coldfire trilogy, because i really dug the deeper allegories and symbolic metaphors. of course, i love reading religion in fantasy, so it could just be me.

I have only read the Coldfire trilogy, but I loved it. Interesting magic system, the nature of faith, it's all a good read.

And I have to say, the setting screams for a D&D game.

I also read the coldfire trilogy. In my opinion the best book I ever read really. I loved it. It was original and well written with characters that made you really think about them and relate to them. my 2 cents
