Looks like we took mostly different powers. I may be replace MM with Cloud of Daggers, if there is no Warlord in our group.

One of the comments by Walking Dad about player interaction reminds me of something I proposed while playing in someone's IH game. Rather then have 'fireside chats' and long talks on the trail between characters we requested separate threads for conversations. It allowed us to have detailed character interactions without detracting from the main storyline.

If the people chosen for game 1 want we could implement a similar system.
 

I gave a quick look at your campaign. It seems really interesting and I like how it has been detail. Here a character I would like to play. Here a first draft. I'll probably add more details to the backgroud/personality/description, which might be reflected by a few stats changes.

Description: Standing 6'0" tall and weighing 185 lbs, Ference is among the tallest of his kind. He appears large and have a slight overweight that doesn't seems to slow him down. He wear an hide armor which barely fits him and seems old and torned. He also has quite an arsenal that is his only tools.

Personality: Ference is slow witted, impulsive and lazy, but he is good nature and put a lot of importance to his word and expect the same from others.

Background:
"Wake up! We are going on an hunting trip. We are already late. Move yourself for a change." shout Ash as he give a solid kick on Ference leg.

"Ouch!" tells Ference, as he wakes up. "Why didn't you wake me earlier?" Ference tells as he stretch.

"I've been doing that half an hour ago, but you fall asleep again. Can't you do anything else then sleep?" ask Ash.

Ference scratch his head before waking up. He quickly put his new hide armor he had gain a few day ago. An armor at the color of the tribe. He was finally one of the warriors of the tribe. He had overcome the rite of fire. He was to go with his brother, his only family, to his first hunting trip. He was proud of it, but he wasn't the kind to not sleep for such important event in his life. He grabbed his backpack, his shortbow and the two shortswords he had.

"Leave these there." tells Ash.

"I'll need them for the hunt." replied Ference.

"These are kid's weapon. I have something for you." Ash move to his room and come back with a rolled blanket. He unrolled it. inside are two longsword, a longbow and a dagger. These ahve been the weapons Ash have been using since he had become a warrior himself, it was there father's weapons. "These are yours. The heritage of the family."

Ference blink a moment. "I can't, they are yours."

"They are to the family. They have served well our father, they have served me well. It is your turn to have them. I bought my own weapons, one I'll make a name with."

Ference smiled and stared a moment. It is Ash who awake him from his thought. "Come on, we are late."

The Alpha was standing in front of everyone. He had a wounded leg, but it didn't seemed to bother him at that moment. He was strong, experienced and had a presence that no one could stand without downing there eyes at one moment or another. He was stading in front of Ference and Goriath. Ference had been accused by Goriath that he had been responsible of the death of Goriath's brother. Last night, a large group of Hand of Bone had attacked there tribe. The alarm wake people too late, some people had already enter the walls. Ference was on watch, but had fallen asleep. It is another watch who spot the first invader. It saved Ference life, as one was about to slit his throat, but the wall had been breach. many people were taken offguard. A few died that night on both side, many was injured and the lose was heavier on there side then it should have been. All of that because of Ference.

The Alpha listened to Goriath's pleading. He then turn toward Ference. Ference didn't knew what to tell, he search teh crowd for some help. he spot Ash among the crowd. He was looking away. He looked ashamed of his brother. He looked at the others, but none seems to have pity of him. Most of them were still tired of wounded by the attack. It was too fresh in everyone memory to have mercy.

Ference only stared at the Alpha, without a word. "Goriath, your right for justice will be granted. As you lose your brother, you can duel your opponent. The winner will have the right of life." Ference suddenly felt his heart beating stop. He knew Goriath and he stand no chance against him. He knew it, Goriath knew it, the Alpha knew it. This was nothing more then a sentence to death.

Figthing for his life in the middle of a chaotic combat is something. Adrenaline is rushing through you and you do most thing by reflex. Instinct is strong and the will to live is guiding you. But when it come to a duel, you have time to evaluate your opponent, to think of your strategy, and to let your fear ride you. Ference never felt such fear in combat. Neither such pain. He was down. His opponent add taken time to beaten him, to make him suffer. He had played with him to show to everyone that he was the stronger. Ference felt the end. He had not long to live. Laying falt to teh ground, he thought that if he had to died, he would do it heads up.

Ference stood up. His father's sword in hands, he stared a moment at Goriath, who smiled to see there was still an opposition. What an opposition. His hide armor was torned, rip at a few places. ference felt the warm blood on his arms and legs. Many wounds were deep, nothing life-threatning, but the pain was clouding his mind. He felt the rage rise in him, a primal urge to kill his opponent. He charged his opponent. Goriath tried to dodge and trip his opponent to make fun of him, but ference land a solid blow. That was enough for Goriath to stop to play with him, but Ference didn't gave him the time to react, landing blow after blow. Goriath parry them, one after another, but the veteran had fought a lot during the last combat and hadn,t fully recovered. The rain of blow weaken his arm and he suddenly lost the grip of his weapon. Then teh blow strike again and again against Goriath's scale. piece of metal falled on the ground and blood start to flow on the Veteran body. Goriath tried to withdraw, but the trip and falled. Ference sword stop an inch to Goriath troath. Both stared to each other for a moment.
"If you had fought like that during the attack, my brother would not have died." told Goriath, with a defiant look. Ference grip on his sword tighten. Using his off-hand sword, he swing it in a large arc, putting his full weight, but instead to strike with the edge, the flat of the blade land on Goriath's head. The veteran felt unconscious.

Ference stared at his opponent for a moment. He turned around a look at his brother, but Ash's look was clear, this victory didn't changed his attitude. He was still a shame to him. Ference sheet his sword and turned around and walk away from his unconscious opponent. The people opened the cricle in front of him. He never look back, Ference simply head to the gate and leave this place where he felt he wasn't welcome anymore.

Ference was stading next to Yurkel. They were both staring foward. Sergent Warlik was doing his inspection tour. When he arrived in front of the Shifter he take a look at him.

"What is that armor. It is torned, it is ripped, it is dirty. It is not something worth of the Union's militia. I told you to not show with that armor. Your weapon are in no better condition. I'll teach you what is a good militian. First, you'll do me fifty push up. After the inspection, you'll head to the barrack and clean it. I want to be able to eat on the ground. And it must be finish before teh night watch, because you'll be doing it. And if I find you sleeping at anytime, you'll regret it. You're just a lazy coward and I don't like your kind in my rank, you'll learn that."

He then take a step foward and look at Yurkel. "And you, you'll help him to clean teh barrack and do teh night watch with him." Sergeant finish his inspection before dismissing the ranks.

"That was really a free punishment for you." tells Ference to Yurkel. Both were walking down the street. The night had fallen and the road were dark. Yurkel had a lantern in his hand to light up the way.

"You know him." told Yurkel. "He doesn't like Tiefling nor Shifters. He doesn't liek us less because he know we stick together. And he thinks also that if he punish someone else at the same time, he would make you think twice before reappeating something. He is just an old bastard who is frustrated to be responsible of militia rather than the guards themselves." Yurkel stop and turned his light toward a dark alley. "Did you see that?"

Ference drew a sword and walked into the alley, followed by Yurkel. As they go deeper in teh alley, Ference became nervous. He then saw a large rat runnig for an hole. "False alarm" told Ference who lower his guard and truned around. It is at that moment three Tiefling fall on them.

Gaëlle was looking at the wounds. "That looks pretty bad. You'll have to take rest for a week before starting with light exercise. How did you did that?" asks the healer. Almost every people were looking at Ference with suspicion, but Gaëlle wasn't, she always had been treating him like anyone else. Maybe it is because she followed Rafa, the patron of all shifters.

"They were three Tiefling, they were prepared. Damned bloodsuckers. They wanted Yurkel, probably to sacrifice him. They tried ot get him alive, they had no need of me alive, so they tried to kill me. We were lucky there was a patrol not so far. The bastards escape."

"It will hurt." told Gaëlle as she put some alcool on the wound. Ference tigthen his teeth and tried to hide the pain. Gaëlle smiled at Ference reaction. "Now lay down and relax, I'll put a bandage and you need to rest." She did as she told. She also start to rub the leg around to make it relax. Ference closed his eyes and wish for ths moment to continu for a while.

Relations:
Ash: His brother who has disown Ference since he banish himself.
Gaëlle: An half-elven cleric of Rafa. She has tended to ference a few times. Ference like to be in her company.
Goriath: Tribemate who challenged Ference into a deadly combat for vengeance.
Sgt. Warlik: His superior in the Union. He has treated Ference like a lazy and a coward.
Yurkel: A Tiefling among the Union, a brother-of-arm. Being an outcast among his kin, like Ference, it has build some link.

Goals: Gaining Prestige, Protect the Union, Gaining respect of the Silver Wolves

As a player, I'm most interested in roleplay, a few good combat sequence and some puzzle/investigation.

Good submissions so far! I'm enjoying your stories and how you use the surrounding factions to build your characters backgrounds. Good stuff.

One thing for Velmont, the gods are different in the world Cabal is set for. Sehanine looks like the god of moon and trickery easily replaced by Rafa (as the Shifters call her) who is the goddess of the moon, silver and hunting. Most humans call her Illiumine.

Edit: I'd like to hold the game on the DND Online PbP forums instead of here because of the ability to have multiple threads easily placed into one area. If I do this there would be more freedom for the Another Day in Cabal players to have their own conversations and such.

If you are applying for Game 1 and are okay with this, state so in your application. If not also state that. Do not -not- apply because you are not willing to play on a different forum. This is not a certainty, simply a possibility. It all depends on how many players submit apps and are willing to play on a separate forum.

so I take it that means you're still recruiting? I finally got a chance to look through my 4th ed stuff and would like to try a dragonborn warlock... I'm not to keen on moving to another board, but if that's where it's happening, that's where I'll be.
