:eek: Wow - I stand corrected.

I'm afraid I'm still dubious.

Downloading the entire 3.5 SRD and then searching for the word "sanity" gave me a list of files that all refer to the insanity spell or symbol of insanity.

I mean, I'm basing this on the idea that if they make it OGL, they'll put it into the SRD. Maybe I'm wrong. The CoC Sanity mechanic may be in Unearthed Arcana, but I don't think it's OGL yet.

If I ever see a print copy of UA, I'll take a closer look.

Sure it is, The Sanity rules are not listed in the Product Identity section at the front of the book nor excluded from being in open in the open content declaration.

I may be wrong, but I kinda doubt the UA rules will be put into the SRD.

OGC != d20 SRD.

(OGL: Open Game License, OGC: Open Game Content; FYI, we're dealing with the latter here.)

The SRD is a collection of OGC, but it is not a collection of all OGC. I mean, there are tons of d20 products out there, but not all of their content gets added to the SRD.

The purpose of the SRD is to make available an OGC version of what constitutes the core rules of D&D + psionics (or d20M, in the case of the MSRD). The SRD is not simply a collection of all OGC WotC has or will ever release, and the presence of something in the SRD is not the sole determinant of whether it is OGC or not.

Anyway, as has been stated, UA has a set of sanity rules that are essentially those from CoC, and said rules are declared to be OGC in the legalese contained in that book.

No, the Sanity rules are most definitely NOT OGC.
They most definately are, actually. Just not via CoC. The SRD is not a collection of what is Open, just the baseline of what is open. Pleny of other open content exists besides what's in the SRD.

Thanks for the clarification. That's why I made the assumption explicit.

Uh yes, we already cleared that up above...

Sorry again for the confusion - I haven't seen UA yet.
