Campaign Help - Have a theme, but how to incorporate it?

Well, here's a mechanic for Fate that I use in my PBP campaign as I'm handing my PCs a role they'll find about soon.

Feat:
Fated (General)
Prerequisites: None
Benefit: You gain 2 Fate points per Chapter (thread reaches 200 posts or until I decide, usually when a major plot is finished)
Special: This may be taken only at 1st level.

What do Fate Points do?
For 1 Fate Point:
-Reroll one save or attack.
-Regain 5 hitpoints at any time (can be used to prevent dying if you're not reduced to -15 hitpoints or below)
-Regain a single spell cast or spell level expended.
-Reduce the extra damage taken from a critical hit to what it would be normally.
-Reroll Combat Initiative.

For 2 Fate Points:
-Gain an extra partial action, this stacks with haste
-Automatically suceed a save
-Regain 15 hitpoints at any time (can be used to prevent dying if you're not reduced to -25 hitpoints or below)

For 3 Fate Points:
-Ignore the negative level normally lost from a Raise Dead or similar spell.

Special: Using a Fate Ponit is a free action and may not be used more than once per round.

If you like this mechanic you can either just give your players the feat or a couple fate points from the start, maybe making it so that the points could only be used in furthering their role in whatever fate they have and gaining points for when they get closer to the goal.

Tell me if you're looking for something else though, I may be able to come up with more ideas.

Hrm, in that case, prophecies are always nice, as are legends and similar, perhaps inscribed in walls of an ancient cave or building or what not. It can be hard to adjucate Fate/Destiny without railroading the group so be cautious.
