Campaign Idea/Feat Help

First Post
I've been thinking about a home brew based off an old homebrew that a bunch of friends and I used to play with back in the day. This game would be set a few hundred years after our last campaign ended, and there would be several changes.

The first is we are intending this game to be low magic. Minimal arcane casting, with a reduced list of spells on both sides of the coin. No teleportation, no resurrection. We may perhaps even limit arcane spellcasting to elves. Okay, I'm straying from the point.

The main point is, after reading a post a while back about astrology and giving benifits based on when characters were born, etc, I was thinking about using it more towards the forgotten realms/OA books idea in the way of either regional feats or ancestor feats. I've been thinking of creating a line of "bloodline" feats. Basically, I want to create probably six different bloodlines (an elvish bloodline, a dwarvish bloodline, a halfling, a gnome, a human "old blood" and a generic divine bloodline that any race could take) and I would do a feat tree of each, the prereq for the next feat being the one before it. I was hoping any of you would have advice about any feats (homebrew or otherwise) I should add. I'm thinking each line will go 4 feats deep (a bonus one at first, and a bonus one every 5 character levels regardless, or they can be purchased with their feat 1/3 character levels). Let me know what you think.

Unfortunately, I don't have any specific ideas for you - it's hard to think of names of feats and such at work off the top of my head without access to my books.

Something like what you're suggesting has been done for Dwarves, however, in the excellent "Hammer & Helm" book by Green Ronin. There are different "bloodline" feats for different types of dwarves. I haven't read it in awhile but I seem to remember that they are based on some kind of background thing like having dragon blood or elemental blood or something like that way back in the character's bloodline.

So, the dwarf character with dragon ancestors has a series of feats - one is the "Prime Bloodgift" feat (or something like that) and once you take that, it opens you up to be able to take other feats in that chain.

I know I'm being general here b/c I don't have access to my books while at work but if you have a FLGS nearby you might want to call to see if they have this book and then go check it out. If nothing else, it might give you a "pattern" that you could use for developing your own feat chains for your world.

It's been a while, and I don't remember the specifics, but I believe that Fantasy Flight Games was doing something with their upcoming Midnight campaign setting. You might want to dig around the designer diaries over there a little bit.

I'll have to take a look at that, then. I've been thinking a lot about the old blood tree, and so far I've come up with the end of the line getting epic leadership, and mostlikely having leadership being the second feat in the tree. I want all of the branches to be about the same level of strength, so I was thinking. Feat one would be a skill feat (+2 to 2 different skills) and the fifth feat will be an epic feat. The dwarven bloodline will be having to do with spirits I think, and perhaps some clerical spellcasting or a defense bonus. Anyone willin' to help out?

I know Birthright did a lot with bloodlines and you could probably use some of those ideas as inspiration for your own twists, but I do know the bloodlines in BR come from the old gods and the bloodlines are divine in origin.
