Campaign Idea - The Postman Cometh!

I like this idea too. The PCs would be a welcome site in all of the small, isolated villages they passed through. They might well be the most powerful people the villagers would ever see. So when the PCs come to town, the villagers would be inclined to approach them with troubles that were too tough to be handled locally. The PCs could stop to take care of things themselves, or relay the call for help onto their next (perhaps larger) stop.

The PCs would likely be among the first to notice any organized rebellion starting to develop or an evil cult becoming active.

Oh yeah, this has lots of potential!

Last game I ran, I created a huge, overarching organization called simply the Post, that deliverd mail and packages. It was pretty much untouchable by secular governments because of its ties to a semi-militant offshoot of a major religion. One of the PCs (a cleric of said offshoot) did exactly what the postman Trainz mentioned above did - delivered mail to families on the frontier and read it to those who couldn't read themselves. It was exactly what the PCs needed to maintain a good rapport with the villages on the frontier.
