It came down to Greyhawk and Planescape, and I chose Greyhawk. Don't get me wrong: I loooooooove Planescape, so much so that I'm going to ask Monte Cook if I can marry it.

But... I just don't think that anyone could recapture that old Planescape twist. Besides, Greyhawk is the core setting. Some support would be nice.

Khayman- same here, except I voted for Planescape. :)

Runners up:
Ravenloft
Eberron
Forgotten Realms

i voted for None of the Above.

i want to see support for Star Frontiers.

i can imagine what kind of treatment they could give to that setting with the way they do things these days.

Voted for Eberron. Loved Dark Sun, Planescape, and Forgotten Realms. But really Dark Sun doesn't work well with the "new" DnD, and should be buried under the sands I so lovingly traversed during those days gone by. Planescape has a different problem, as WotC has different cosmologies for the campaign settings of Eberron, Forgotten Realms and the default setting Greyhawk, would take some serious writing to patch to gether, or make it a unique setting in its own right which would wear away at the exoticness of the campaign. And Forgotten Realms right now seems to be going in to many directions at the same time, with history coming to life and dead gods bursting from live gods.

Eberron however is a new setting, built around the "new" rules. It doesn't have a backlog of stuff it can accidently step on, and there's only one direction it can go. So it gets my vote.

I'm a little annoyed that Kalamar isn't on the list. Though it's not published by WoTC, it is still considered by WoTC to be an official campain world, and all Kalamar products have to be scoured and approved by WoTC before being published, unlike "unofficial" worlds produced by third-party companies.

Well, it is a bit surprising to see the spread of votes, and the weakness of both Eberron and FR in this poll.

And it SHOULD be a matter of concern for those people at WotC, who

1) decided to not support Greyhawk and Planescape... They both have more votes than FR!
2) have not managed to convince 5% of us that Eberron is a better option than "none of the above". And it isn't for lack of trying.

I voted for Eberron simply because it doesn't have a lot of material out for it yet. I'd really like to see this world fleshed out some more. That said, I would like to see Mystara, Dark Sun, and Planescape brought back to life in 3.5.

Adios,
Kane

Council of Wyrms

I've had a pipe dream ever since that boxed set came out of having the setting redone with "normal" PCs...adventuring in the shadow of the Council.

Birthright All The Way!

I'd have to go with Birthright. Out of all the campaign settings, I felt that Rich Baker did an excellent job creating a world that, while filled with many already established kingdoms and NPCs, the DM could give his players the freedom they needed without loosing focus on the complexity and richness of the world.

Plus, who doesn't like controlling an entire kingdom, slaying evil beings, and perhaps even becoming the ruler of an entire continent? ^^

Well, FR has plenty of support, and even if it's my main campaign setting, I just don't want it to get any more support, because I wouldn't be able to afford the books.

I've seen Eberron, and I have absolutely no interest in running a game in it. Too much stuff put together in ways that don't make too much sense, IMO.

Greyhawk could do with more support, but I probably wouldn't play in Greyhawk anyway, so the point is moot.

So, Planescape all the way. Best thought-up setting ever, although it could do with some d20 re-tooling and re-ballancing. But Planescape must have modrons, or its not Planescape. Andy Collins must not be involved in making it in any way, shape, or form, or I wouldn't buy it.
