What's your favorite (ice cream) world?
Awesome poll. I would say I like generic fantasy worlds with interesting elements (vanilla ice cream with sprinkles and chocolate sauce).
Dark Sun is awesome, but I never think of good unique adventures. DS is unlike the kill badguy-get loot model. Ran and played.
Forgotten Realms The novels ruined this for me. It's almost like playing a superhero game of DC and Marvel where Captain America, Spiderman, Batman, and Thor exist in the same world and routinely do stuff, overshadowing your standard superheros. Sure you could ignore the big names, but isn't that the point of playing in DC and Marvel? Ran and played.
DragonLance Interesting history and backstory. It seems the problem is canon; difficult to make your own mark on the world. Kender are really annoying. Played, but not run.
Birthright Awesome world, unique monsters, and interesting backstory, but seems limited by ruling as a regent; being king is not all fun and games it seems. Run, but not played.
Planescape I knew lots of people liked this one. I never wrap my head around the whole Tanari and Baatezu thing. Played, but not run.
Eberron is a interesting world, but I could never run it. From what I have read from the Eberron 3.5 book, Eberron is the, "solve murder mystery, get chased by bad guys, destroy bad guys, get loot" model. Played briefly, but not run.
