Campaign Wikipedias

There are some others. I think there was a discussion of it over in the Software and Computers forum awhile back. Not sure if the others were free. Several people like MS One Note.

As for WikidPad you can also use '[ ]' to enclose your words you want to be wiki words instead of 'CamelCase' words. So for deities you would type the word as [Deities] and it wouls be a wiki word. Another options is if you use DeiTies, on the page it creates you can just retype the heading to be Deities.

Ah hah! Thank you!

My wiki voodoo is weak =/

If i retype the heading, the wiki nests inside itself.

The campagin world is named Taelas, and to start the wiki, I had to name it TaeLas, which it made Tae Las.. and if i make that TaeLas, it nests the wiki inside itself. but the [] fixes the problem! can you put pictures in wikidpad?

I don't think you can put pictures inline with wikidpad. All the wiki pages are stored in plain text format limiting some of the formatting options. You can link to a picture on the hard drive, but you would have to click on the link to get the picture to display and that would be in your default photo viewer.

I've been using the wiki as a resource to pull together all the info in our campaign, and it's worked out great. The wiki I have been using is free, flexible, and has been having constant upgrades by the host. It allows me to save the pages as they are updated and should someone erase a page or two I can replace it in a moment. I have been trying to use it during sessions to look up info that I, as DM, can't remember. It can host images and charts to add more flare to the pages.

The web-savvy players can update as much as they want and I can see what has been changed and when for up to a month. So far I've been offering a little XP to encourage them to help with updates, editing, and linking. In less than a month I've been able to transfer everything to it, mostly in 15 minute increments as I tend to get interrupted a lot.

How much participation do you get from your players? Personally, I'd love to see mine throw in some bits of stuff... I'm working feverishly on my wiki, actually- trying to make a point of adding something to every section.

The wiki is a great resource. See the links in my signature for the one we have been using for over a year now. The linking is what makes it really superior IMO.

The players are very enthusiastic about it. Indeed, it has resulted in one player probably knowing my homebrew better than I do.

Edit: added an afterthought.

NPC Wiki resource

Wasn't there a thread about an NPC Wiki resource? I am searching and can't find it.

Also, I found a realy nice program to run as a campaign site, though it's more of a blogger website. WordPress. Apparently the (very cool) RPG site Treasure Tables is using it.

I think Jurgen was running the NPC Wiki...

That's a pretty cool idea. I think I'll use it for the Fallout campaing I'm starting on Tuesday.

So... jealous.

Man, I've wanted to play in a Fallout game forever. Or, you know, since Fallout came out, anyway.

Catsclaw

I'm building one here for 3.5 characters:

Feel free to add some PCs or NPCs that have been partially or wholly built. Mostly I have been adding those the party has recently come across and eliminated.

Jester, with the XP reward I've noticed a marked interest in updates by 4/5 of the players, with the last not readily having computer access. It's a great way for the players that have had PCs perish make up the difference in XP more quickly. If I hadn't eliminated XP costs for item creation and everything else I would think it would be even more active.
