Sweet Necro!

Have we even mentioned this yet? Dragonforce Through the Fire and the Flames? Guitar heroes everywhere learned to love it...

Has a very Midnight vibe to it

What about doing some with The Beatles' Rocky Raccoon? He fights Dan for the woman. Dan could be some horrible villain who takes other men's women and enslaves them, and the PCs have to rescue them and avenge their patron Saint Rocky Raccoon?

His Soul is Marching On - After a TPK (or alternately just as the initial premise of a game) the PCs continue their quest against evil as ghosts or celestials

Years ago I built part of a campaign around this snippet from the Leonard Cohen song "Take This Waltz":

There's a piece that was torn from the morning
And it hangs in the Gallery of Frost

The overall campaign involved the PCs' quest to recover the Words of Creation so they could stop Erebus, god of darkness, before he could unmake the universe.

I used these lyrics to build a several session sequence.

The piece that was torn from the morning was some of the metaphysical energy from the Dawn War among the gods. (I probably didn't call it the Dawn War at the time, because that's a 4e term, and this campaign was during 3.5e. But same idea.) Orcus had stolen that energy and hid it away from the other gods.

The gallery of frost was part of one of Orcus's domains. In an icy, windswept barrens, servitor demons eternally scooped up damned souls and cemented them into a neverending fortress of snow.

The PCs had to battle past the demons, enter the gallery of frost, and locate the piece that was torn from the morning within an effectively infinite expanse.

another relevant thing from the conversation that inspired this thread

A couple years ago I had a secret society in my game based on the song The True Wheel by Brian Eno. It's something I've wanted to do since high school.
again, including the quote above because it's from the same conversation that inspired this thread

This entire album really (it's a rock opera), but especially "Rise of the Chaos Wizards" by Gloryhammer would make an excellent campaign.
That's one of my favorite songs. I've got it on my playlist for when I play the old videogame Master of Magic (I usually specialize in chaos magic)

What about doing some with The Beatles' Rocky Raccoon? He fights Dan for the woman. Dan could be some horrible villain who takes other men's women and enslaves them, and the PCs have to rescue them and avenge their patron Saint Rocky Raccoon?

This made me think of the Ice King from Adventure Time.

Maxwell's Silver Hammer + Bark At The Moon

or conversely

Maxwell's Silver Hammer + Hammer Smashed Face

Particle Man - (thanks for the earworm btw) - always makes me think of Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen
It makes me think of the end of Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett, specifically the line about "He's got a watch with a minute hand, a millennium hand, and an eon hand...". IIRC Death's boss had a clock with a hand that only went around once because the timespan it measured was the lifetime of the universe

edit:and speaking of They Might Be Giants, Sapphire Bullets Of Pure Love are obviousky some kind of weapon against demons
