Can a Paladin's mount start a grapple and about trample?

A special mount gets new feats when their HD advances to appropriate number (6,9 ...). So, you can let it take Improved Unarmed Strike and then Improved Grapple.

Would it need imp. unarmed strike? It already has a natural attack.

Crocodiles do not have IUS...

IUS is a prerequisite for Improved Grapple.

Nor do they have Improved Grapple. They have Improved Grab, which is certainly not the same thing (it's not a feat).

The SRD shows the barbed devil with improved grapple and improved grab, but no IUS.

It could be a mistake or it could be a precedence.
