But, isn't run a bonus to speed? This errata statement conflicts with itself. Run says "speed +2", which is a bonus to speed. So, no, your general statement that you may move more than your speed is wrong. For example, if a power says you can move your speed +2, then you can still move only your speed unless you use a run action.This. You may move more than your speed by using a power that says so. There's a clarifying errata that explicitly says this too, by the way:
You cannot benefit from bonuses to speed,
although you can use powers and take actions, such
as the run action, that allow you to move farther
than your speed.
Note that the rule description of Run doesn't say you receive a +2 bonus to speed. It says your movement is now Speed+2. I think that's the important and crucial difference. But, isn't run a bonus to speed? This errata statement conflicts with itself. Run says "speed +2", which is a bonus to speed. Right?

In my house-ruled 4E, the slowed condition also disallows shift, charge and run. Works extremely well and makes it very useful.I suspect it'd be an interesting house rule to have slow remove the ability to shift.
My apologies. Obviously, my post wasn't clear about what my point was because your response had nothing to do with it (I don't think). My comment was purely on the bonuses to speed. A power that allows you to shift 6 has nothing whatsoever to do with it. So, let's compare a power that let's you move (however you want to define this) your speed +2 with the errata. The errata says "You cannot benefit from bonuses to speed." So, therefore the bonus doesn't apply. However, you can run, which applies a bonus to speed. I see that as a contradiction. What?
