can anyone recomend a system that allows for dogfighting?

The Star Wars system has some decent rules for them (2 versions, in fact). They'd need some tweaking to work, but are certainly an option.

i mean sopwith camels and the red baron, not 2 mutts going at each others throats.

There's always the chase system in Spycraft and the Soldier/Wheelman Class guide, though (as excellent as it is) it is more geared to cinematic abstraction rather than hard positioning and maneuvers.

your kidding right. Both star wars(1st ed and revised) rules for vehicle and star ship combat are probably the worst I've ever seen.

I found it is best to create your own rules for that. And the best way to do dogfighting with planes is to have the dogs as pilots in the plane. That is what I would like to get out of a dog fight :D

Compared to what? I actually quite like both versions for different reasons.

I was thinking the same thing - but only with the 1st edition WEG Star Wars chase rules. :) I loved the cinema of those rules, and the system would roughly translate well to d20 - but unfortunately, I don't have a copy handy right now.

Spycraft's chasing seems best suited to dogfighting, though, from what I've heard.
