Can Confusion effect the caster as well?

Skaros

First Post
If I cast Confusion such that the area of effect includes me, does it effect me as well?

Or do casters automatically make saving throws against their own spells?

Thanks,

Unless specified otherwise, you are always affected if you're in the area of effect of your spells.

Otherwise, you could cast Fireball at your feet without taking damage...

That's what I thought as well, but wanted to throw it out on the off chance there was a rule I wasn't aware of ...

Be nice if the cleric my group might fight tonight could drop confusion (domain power) at his feet when they all swarm him, which is probable.

Confusion has medium range, so you could just drop it on them from a distance.

Note that there are feats that you can use to modify the area of effect, like Sculpt Spell (T&B) .
