Can I adventure with my Liveoak treant?

Pathfinder removed the "within 300 feet from somewhere you need to guard" text from Liveoak, and even in 3.5 I don't think it would prevent the treant from coming adventuring with you once it was animated. So do I basically have a huge treant cohort if I want it? It makes my awakened tree look kind of weak.

Liveoak doesn't have any provisions for controlling the treant it creates. Arguably, you'd have to bargain with the thing to get it to do what you want. I'd probably say that it's more inclined to stay home and guard the area than go kill monsters in a dungeon for you. You'd be able to convince it to protect the forest it lives in without any trouble, though.
